"FALL" BACK INTO GOOD HABITS
WILDCATS!!!
WILDCATS!!!
LET'S HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR AND REMEMBER THESE THINGS!!!
Materials
Each day you will need to bring your 3-ring binder to class complete with paper and properly divided into sections. You will also always need to have at least two pencils with erasers.
Class Room Rules
1. Respect for ALL
2. Proper Dress Code
3. Rough-housing not allowed
Consequences (if the rules are broken)
1. First offense -- silent lunch
2. Second offense -- call/email parents
3. Third offense -- office referral
Notebook
Notebooks will be used in class each day. It is crucial that you keep you math notebook in order and up to date. Notebooks will be checked periodically and graded to ensure that you are taking notes, completing work, and staying on track. This will be a test grade. Note taking allows you to hear, see, write, and discuss our curriculum, ensuring that all learning types have been addressed. This is perhaps the most important element of success in your math class.
Missed Class Work or Homework
It is your responsibility to ask me for any missed class work or homework. You will have 5 days when you return to make up any missed work.
Class Assignments
There will be a class assignment everyday that we are not testing. This will enable you to explore and practice our objectives. These tasks will be placed in your notebook, labeled class work.
Homework
Homework will be graded according to effort and how well you have followed directions.
Tests
It is crucial that you keep up with your assignments and study daily so that you will be prepared for all tests. If you finish a test early, please be prepared to read a book or work independently on another subject.
Calculators
Calculators will be available for use during class time. You will be assigned a certain calculator to use each time you are in math class. Always use the one I assign you, so that if a calculator is missing in the next class, I will know who to ask about it. If you would like a calculator at home like ours at school, we will be using the TI-84 Plus. If not, you may use a scientific calculator at home. Usually scientific calculators can be purchased for one to three dollars.
Progress Reports
Since we are on a nine weeks schedule, you will receive a progress report after four and one-half weeks. These reports will give your parents your average at that time and inform them of any missing work or low test grades. Also, this will inform your parents of homework and class work assignments that you did not turn in and your conduct.
Policy on Cheating
During a test, talking, sharing information on a calculator or cell phone, passing paper, or trying to see another students paper are NOT permitted and will result in your receiving a ZERO for that test. This applies to the giver (if willing) and the receiver. Homework and class work are not to be copied. In class, working in a group, every member of the group is expected to work and contribute.
Field Trips
All school fees, including library fees, must be paid before you will be allowed to go on a field trip.
Class Room Procedures
1. Come straight to class, in a quiet line.
2. Once in the class room, be seated and ready to work.
3. Bring ALL needed materials.
4. Only ask for bathroom trips if necessary.
5. Unrelated materials should not be out during class time. They will become the property of the teacher
until picked up by a parent.
6. Carbonated beverages are not allowed at school.
7. OPENED beverage containers, including water, are not allowed at school.
8. Candy and gum are allowed if they do not disrupt class and the wrapping and any “used” gum is disposed of
properly.
